ARMSTRONG CALLS FOR THE END OF GOVERNMENT FUNDING OF RESEARCH BASED ON MAN-MADE GLOBAL WARMING PDF Print E-mail

4 Apr 2011:  Dr. Scott Armstrong, professor of marketing at the Wharton School of Management at the University of Pennsylvania and forecasting expert, testified before the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology on March 31st, along with several other witnesses.  Dr. Armstrong, a member of the CSCA Technical Advisory Board, jointly submitted a statement to the House committee along with Dr. Kesten Green of the University of South Australia, and Dr. Willie Soon, professor at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.

Armstrong pointed out that IPCC forecasts of future global temperatures violated 81% of 89 relevant forecasting principles. In particular, the IPCC violated the principles of objectivity and full disclosure, and relied on consensus opinions of experts rather than demonstrating the predictive validity of the models on which the IPCC relies. Armstrong found that a "no change" temperature forecast model showed much lower levels of error than IPCC model projections.

Because climate policies are being established based on erroneous IPCC forecasts, Dr. Armstrong recommended:

1) End of government funding of climate research
2) End of government research on funding for research predicated on global warming (e.g. alternative energy, CO2 reduction, habitat loss)
3) End government programs and repeal regulations predicated on global warming
4) End government support for organizations that lobby or campaign predicated on global warming
